Using Google Plus Hangouts to Establish Expertise

google-hangoutOne way to maximize your business brand on Google + is to find a way to establish your expertise. A great way to do that is to use Google Hangouts On-Air. You can use Google + Hangout’s On Air service free to give excellent presentations. You don’t need any special software, and you can do them at the drop of the hat.

There are so many interesting features with Google+ Hangout On Air that it’s something you must try in order to establish your expertise and maximize your brand. Whether you have an online business or an offline business using the features offered such as screen sharing, slide sharing, video sharing and more will really take your business to the next level.

The system is not hard to use, it’s pretty much like most webinar tools, but with a few additional bells and whistles.

Host a Panel Discussion

You can ask some of your colleagues or JV partners to join with you in a Google + Hangout On Air session then broadcast it live as it’s happening, post it to your Google+ home page, and even your YouTube.com channel for watching again later.

Host a Private Round Table

Do you work with or coach others? If so you probably often need to have private discussions with them. You can interact on a face-to-face level using Google+ Hangouts without going on air. You can still record it and use it later.

Present a “How-to”

You can use Google+ Hangouts On Air to present a “how to” do something that is related to your niche. When you schedule an On Air presentation you can notify all your followers and ask them to tell theirs.

Build Customer Relationships

Host monthly Google Hangouts just for customers that allow them to ask and get questions answered live. This is a great way to educate your customers about the products or services they’ve already purchased and mention new ones that might solve other problems they have.

Host Product Demonstrations

You can have a Google + Hangout On Air to demonstrate products and services that you offer. Don’t be afraid of “giving away the farm” even when you show someone how to do something, often they’d rather someone else do it for them.

Repurpose & Reuse

When you host a hangout you can record it. You can then download it and edit it for use on a membership site, or as a free give away to encourage newsletter sign ups. You can also have it transcribed and use it in other ways such as an eReport, eBook or even as a Kindle Book.

Everything you do on Google + Hangouts should be in your business’s name and focused toward your personalized audience. Use the same marketing tactics to promote your Google + Hangouts as you would any event you plan to host. Tell everyone you know, ask them to tell everyone they know, and use all methods available to you to get the word out from your blog to other social media accounts.

Tips for Using Google Plus for Your Business

Google Plus for Business
Maximizing your business brand on Google + involves staying focused on your target audience, business goals, and niche while engaging with others. To use Google + for your business it’s important to follow some best practices. First and foremost, remember that you’re promoting your business brand. Secondly, while you want to show your personality, remember that your focus should be on your business brand and what you bring to your market.

Complete Your Profile

Don’t leave up a half done profile for very long. It’s important to fill it out as completely as possible so that no one is confused about what your business offers. Upload pictures, link to videos, and other content. Claim your unique URL and figure out some relevant content to put in every area of your profile.

Get Verified

Don’t skip the verification process required for businesses on Google +. They will send you a PIN which is required for you to claim your business. It usually takes two weeks to receive the post card with the PIN on it. Look for it and verify right away so that you don’t forget this important step.

Share Unique Content

Once your account is set up, start uploading and linking to targeted unique content. You want to fill your account with some content before you start asking for and getting followers other than people that you already know. The content itself will help you get more followers as your friends share it, and they find it on search.

Engage With Others

Google + for business is also a social network, which requires you to be social. You want people to engage with your content by following you, sharing it, commenting on it, so it will help if you do the same with their content. If you want people to do something, ask them. Your call to action is just as important here as it is on other social media sites.

Segment Using Circles

Google + offers the ability to segment your followers with circles. Circles enable you to create different groups for different types of followers. Perhaps you have customers who have purchased from you; you can drag them into one circle so that you can share information about the product they bought.  Circles allow for many different types of market segmentation which will further help you maximize your branding efforts.

Use All That Google + Offers

Google + has so much to offer that it can become overwhelming. Once you’ve got the hang of putting up unique content, having discussions with others, filling your circles, and more, start branching out by trying out Google Hangouts and Google events and other offerings that Google rolls out. Using as much of this free service as possible will ensure that it will work for you as a branding tool.

Google + is a useful social media for expanding and maximizing your business brand. The more you use the tools provided the better you’ll get at implementing them and seeing the big picture. It can be overwhelming at first to try something new, but the more you use Google + the more you’ll realize the benefits.

brand-google

Google + is so massive that it can be hard to figure out what to do first and how best to use Google Plus to maximize your business brand.  Thankfully there is a way to ensure that you’re using Google+ to its maximum benefit and it’s not hard to do at all.

Create Your Google + Page

Simply follow the prompts to create your Google + page, add your company name, images, and anything else you can to customize your page. Ensure that you focus the information you provide toward your target audience. Like with any marketing material focus on the benefits you provide the customer and answer the question they have which is, “What’s in it for me?”

Don’t forget to follow all the steps including verifying your page per Google’s instructions. Also, be sure if you to enable social extensions using Google Adwords enhanced campaigns. You also will want to also claim your custom URL. Having a custom URL will make it easier to share your information and look nicer too.

Add G + Badge to Your Website

It’s easy to create and add a Google + badge to you website. You can create one easily after you’ve completed your profile. It will enable people to follow you on G+.  You can create follow buttons, +1 buttons and more for your website right from the Google platform. Then, you simply copy and paste the code into your website where you want it. You can also use some WordPress plugins that make the process even simpler.

Post Exclusive & Smart Content

Once you have your account set up it’s important to use it to post exclusive content, as well as link to your website and blog content. Link to any blog post you write, any article you publish, and any press releases that you send out. People want to know what you’re up to and sharing those business related things on Google + is all about getting the word out about your business. Your content should be well-written, keyword rich, but full of the business persona that you want to promote.

Build Your Followers

Google+ is set up to help you get more followers. It’s easy to add content to. As you add more content, and promote your Google + page on your content throughout the web, you’ll begin to attract more followers. Don’ even bother promoting your Google + presence until you have completed your profile expertly, added appropriate badges and +1 buttons to your sites. You don’t want people to check you out and be bored by what they see. Don’t forget to make yourself available for direct connect.

Follow Strategically

When you choose to follow people on Google + strategically you can end up with more targeted followers yourself. Follow movers and shakers within your industry. Follow people who look like they might be your target audience. Follow people that you are already connected to on other social media. It’s likely that there will be some overlap and that’s okay, because likely your connections have brand-new connections via Google + that they don’t have elsewhere.

Interact with Others

Finally, don’t forget that like most social media, building your brand is about connecting and interacting with others. Don’t become a robot that just shares their own things. Comment strategically on what others share, share other people’s information when it is relevant to your audience, and engage people with thoughtful topics. If you share and participate as well as post a lot of exclusive content of your own you’ll increase your brand’s awareness exponentially.

Connect Your Google Profile and Business Website

google
Using Google + to maximize your brand can be a successful endeavor if you keep looking for new ways to use Google+. Linking your Google + profile to your website is very useful because your fans and customers can connect with you. The whole name of the game in business is having more targeted connections and then keeping in touch with those connections in the best ways possible.

If Google has this information about you it will be used to add relevancy to your name and business when people search for your keywords and keyword phrases. Once you’ve connected your profile with your website your site then can have a Google+ Direct Connect. It’s one of the fastest ways to maximize your brand with Google +.

It’s Good SEO

Search engine optimization is something you hear about a lot because it’s very important to helping people find you and your business. By adding your business website to your Google + Profile you’re giving people yet another way to find you.

You’ll be More Relevant

Once Google verifies you and your business site, and people search for you, they will place more relevancy on Google + verified businesses than on those who are not. Because most traffic still comes from Google, it makes sense to do it simply based on getting higher in search results.

Earn a Google+ Direct Connection

This is still in the testing phase but what it does is give people the ability upon searching for your company to put a + in front of their searches so they will automatically find your Google + Page and in some cases automatically ad you to their circles. Not all websites will get the connection right away, but it’s worth it to try.

Earn More Trust

Due to the fact that Google + verifies businesses and website ownership, you’ll be more trusted by having this connection established. People like to buy from those that they know, like and trust. Earning more trust will definitely maximize your business’s brand faster than not doing it.

Don’t forget to connect your business website to your Google + Profile for even more bang for your buck. Adding widgets and badges so that people who visit your website can easily see and visit your Google + Business Page will encourage more people to follow you. By getting more people to follow you and link to your Google + profile you’ll increase your ranking exponentially. So, if your business has more than one blog or webpage, put your badges and +1 buttons on every single one.

As you learn more about Google + for Business you’ll learn that the more you use it, the more you share, the more you interconnect everything to Google + the more people who will find you and the more chance you have to maximize your brand. You can’t do it all at once, so do one thing at a time, and do each thing thoroughly and you will see results that go beyond what you might have thought possible with social media like Google +.

Maximize Your Brand By Claiming Authorship

Maximize your brand on google plus
Using Your Google Plus Profile you can connect a lot of the work that you do together. You can connect your Google + Business Page with your business website, you can add +1 buttons to your blog posts, and anything you write, badges to your online real-estate so that people can follow you on Google +, but did you know that you can also verify and claim everything you write by claiming authorship using your Google + profile?

It’s simple to do if you use WordPress. Go to you user account, edit profile, then scroll down until you see the Google+ information then paste your information into there. It’s really that easy. If you have multiple author names that you use, or your business hires several authors, be sure to verify with Google each of your names. If you don’t use WordPress, you can use Google +  Profile under Links to add and connect your work across the web.

One Author sites is easy to do, simply past the following code into the head section of your website’s code.

[/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][message type=”info”]<link href=”http://plus.google.com/YourProfileURL/rel=’author’/>[/message]

Multiple Author sites you will need to link each author’s about page to their Google + Profile by changing the code above to rel=’me’ instead of rel=’author’. This will link your authors to their Google + profiles and thus give your website a lot more authenticity. Since Google verifies businesses, this will make your trust quotient go up, thus maximizing your brand wherever you write or place content.

You can also implement the Rel=’publisher’ Google Authorship mark up too. Instead of adding the authorship tag to your site, because you have many writers who all write for your brand, you can add in the head of your site the code with the URL of your business site adding the rel=’publisher’ tag instead of the rel=’author’ tag. Note: Some sites coding requires the use of ” instead of  ‘ around the word. You may need to test various forms of the code.

By claiming authorship everyone in your Google+ circles will be able to see where you blog or write. Plus, each search result will look better and stand out because your profile picture will show up next to your content on search results. That picture will draw attention to the search results over the other search results. As you build your authorship reputation your brand will be noticed more than ever before. If you get confused you can go to this page on Google to learn how to do it.

Content is your most important asset, whether you have an online business or a bricks and mortar business. Content helps you get more visitors and educate your customers and future customers. Content is the life blood of your online presence. Being able to claim authorship across the web of everything you’ve written is a great opportunity to maximize your brand beyond anything thought previously possible.

Remember that these changes will not show up instantly on your website or in search results, it might take a few days for Google to index your updates. However, the change will be well worth it.

10 Common Google+ Branding Mistakes

Missing-the-goal

One of the most surprising facts about Google+ branding mistakes is the number of people who still make them!

Here are ten of the most common – and most often repeated…

Posting sporadically

It doesn’t matter if you made twelve posts last week:  If this week you’re so busy that you forgot to update your company Google+ page completely you’re going to come off as unreliable. Worse, people who had been enjoying “the conversation” will feel suddenly let down.

Keep them waiting too long – or repeat “feast or famine” posting too many times – and you will actually lose followers.  And hurt your brand.

Not paying attention to search engine results

search-resultsIf you stop and run searches for your keywords and competitors, you may be surprised to realize how many top spots are held by those with Google+ Profiles and Pages – and how these show up. Besides, if you don’t take advantage of Google+ branding opportunities yourself, you are ignoring the power of graphics and photos in boosting credibility and capturing interest.

Posting empty links

What’s an empty link post? It’s one that does not include a comment and the title seems irrelevant to your followers. Provide your readers a reason why the link you are sharing is important or at least the topic of the article or the title of video.

Forgetting to include calls to action

targetThis is something you see time and time again – it’s not unique to Google+, but to all social media channels.  Nevertheless, it’s included here because so many companies seem to make this really inexplicable mistake.

Include calls to action:

  • In your Google+ Page posts
  • On your website and blog
  • With your Google+ badges and icons
  • In your Google+ ‘About’ section

Forgetting to install Google+ badges

This one is really inexcusable.  If you don’t make it easy for your followers, they won’t bother to share and engage – it’s as simple as that. Only slightly less understandable is installing a Google+ badge on your website – and not including a G+1 button so people can endorse your posts.

Copying your competitors

It’s great to analyze what works for them on Google+. Just make sure you put equal time into figuring out why. If you take those extra steps to get to the bottom of what seems to be obvious, it will be easier for you to apply critical thinking to your own brand strategies on Google+.  You’ll grow surprisingly good at knowing what you are doing, what your audience is craving – and why your strategies are going to work.  (And that’s most likely what your successful Google+ competitor actually did.)

Forgetting to test and track

Most people don’t actually forget this. The real excuse is usually ‘I’m just too busy!’ If you genuinely are – or you have trouble applying and understanding metrics – it’s worth outsourcing this to a social media expert. Just make sure you have regular meetings while they explain your results – and make recommendations that reap good results when later implemented.

Not having a clear Google+ strategy

5 - Strategy

You will get much stronger and better-branded results if you put preparation and study into what your strategies are going to be.  (Also give yourself a time frame in which to implement them.) Pick one area in Google+ and make it your central platform (but don’t neglect the others). For example, become known for your company’s amazing Hangouts; or brilliantly unique blog posts; or gorgeous, sumptuous original photographs that prompt spontaneous sharing.

Just make sure that whatever you decide to become known for, it is relevant to your business, your products or services, your company’s areas of service or expertise – and, above all, your followers.

Not making use of branding keywords or Google+ hashtags

You’d think people wouldn’t forget these two very basic essentials.  But apparently they do – all the time.

Hashtags (unlike comments) definitely increase your searchability and rank.  And keywords provide the foundation.  (Another big no-no:  Forgetting to use actual keywords in your hashtags!)

Forgetting to acknowledge, thank or just plain talk with your followers

commentsYes, this happens on other social networks too – but it’s never excusable.  And it’s a sure-fire way to ensure that people quickly stop trusting you.  They’ll simply lose interest.

Finally, remember that everything you do online affects your company brand.  If you are focused on your audience, know your business mission and goals, use the unique and exciting tools provided on Google+ and – most of all – have made a strong commitment to build your brand through excellent service – and content – you will be well on your way to Google+ branding success.

Hosting a Google+ Hangout on Air Tips

1-home

Hangout on Air is a way to record and share your discussions live and have them be replayed over and over again. Google Hangout on Air works with YouTube to stream your hangout live. It allows you to invite customers, friends or whoever to your public forum.

How Hangouts on Air Work

You’ll need to sign in to your Google+ account to begin with. Then go to the Home menu located on the left side of your screen. Scroll down and Click the “Hangouts on Air.”

 2-home tab

Click the “Start a Hangout on Air” button.

Here, Google+ asks you to connect to your YouTube account.

Verify your YouTube account by entering your phone number and using the verification code you receive.

3-youtube

Next you need to go back to the Google Hangout on Air screen and confirm YouTube and your Google plus accounts are connected.

Starting Your Hangout on Air

Give your Hangout a name and invite people to view it. The name you use here will be the title of the Hangout post in your Google+ stream and your YouTube recording. It cannot be changed in Hangouts after you set. It can be adjusted in the resulting YouTube video later though.

6-starting

You can invite people from your circles or individuals. Extended circles or the public cannot be invited to join the broadcast as a participant.

Agree to the Terms. Click the start broadcast button on the right and confirm you want to broadcast your hangout publicly.

4-publicly

Your broadcast has now started. When you are finished, simply click the End Broadcast button to stop the broadcast. Once the broadcast is done, it is automatically converted to a static video on YouTube where people can watch it and comment on it whenever they want.

Finding your Video

Your Hangout on Air video is available on your Google+ home page. Once the Hangout is finished, the video is automatically posted publicly to your YouTube channel as well as any other live streams you have, such as embedded links on your website.

You can edit your Hangout on Air video using YouTube’s video editor. Or download it and use your own editing software like Camtasia.

The easiest way for people to find your recorded broadcast is to create a page on your blog with the embedded video stream. You can embed the live player of your Hangout on Air by copying the YouTube URL or HTML code and pasting it onto your blog page.

There is some processing time. It can take a few minutes or several hours.

Preview your recording once it is done processing. Play it from start to finish and pay close attention to the beginning and ending. You can add tags, change the view from public to private, and add thumbnails or other things. You do this by clicking on the title of the video in the video manger, clicking on edit video or edit settings.

Tips for a Successful Google+ Hangout on Air

* Send out reminders close to the time your event is taking place. Promote it in advance as much as possible. Use your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter and your newsletters to let people know about your hangout.

* Prepare in advance for your broadcast. It’s a live event. You won’t be able to make any edits until after the event. Have some type of script or bullet points worked out ahead of time.

* Grab the code from the embed code button before you start the broadcast. You will see a link that says “Embed”. Click it and you’ll get the code you can share.

5-embed

…and place it on your blog to send people to your Hangout on Air. This embeds the YouTube player on your site so visitors can watch the Hangout on Air live from your site as well as on Google+ and your YouTube channel.

* Highlight Reel. A few days after the event, post a short 1 or 2 minute highlight reel of the best moments from you hangout on your website, Google+ page, Facebook, Twitter and in any of your marketing. This is great for getting people who didn’t come to your last Hangout to attend your next one.

* Use the Q&A App. There is a Q&A app that you can use that will allow people to submit questions to your Hangout. This handy app also lets you keep track of questions you’ve already answered. NOTE: You have to start Q&A before your broadcast begins. You won’t be able to turn it on after you start.

7-qa

* Add Your Name and Website to Your Video Screen. The Google Toolbox app makes it possible to add your name, location and other details like your website to the video screen.

8-hangout-toolbox

It’s the “Lower Third” option. All you have to do is enter your information once and then have the app save the preset, so you can use it again.

 9-lower-third

Practice Ahead of Time

Check your settings so you maintain screen control during the broadcast. You can do this by going to the settings in the hangout and adjusting them to what you want.

* Make sure your environment is clear. What will people see and hear on your end? Keep distractions to a limit if possible.

* Have a conversation. Invite someone to be a guest and join in the conversation with you. It’s much more interesting to listen to a conversation than to a single person. Remember, however, that only 10 people are allowed on the Hangout on Air at a time but an unlimited number of people can watch.

Google+ Hangouts on Air is a lot like Skype. You can have conversations, text chats and record your discussions. The one thing that HOA has is the ability to share your recordings through YouTube and on your own website.

Who Uses Google+?

7-communityThe easy answer is that anyone who has a Gmail account is now automatically signed up for Google Plus. But, the truth is, it’s not that easy. Many people who have Google Plus accounts don’t use it, at least yet. There are 425 million Gmail users but only 343 million active Google Plus users. So, even though Google forces you to have a G+ account it doesn’t mean it’s being used.

So probably a better question is: Who Should Use Google+.

And the answer is: Anyone who wants to continue to return a high page rank on Google Search needs to be active with Google +.

In fact, some experts argue that getting in now while it’s not the most popular network is the best way to get started. You’ll have time to learn how to use Google Plus to get the best results before it’s as popular as Facebook. Because, frankly, Google Plus is harder to learn than Facebook. But, it’s only harder to learn because it has so many features and works so well with the multitude of other Google product offerings.

It’s actually set up better than Facebook, especially in terms of use for business owners, because while Facebook is a great social networking tool, it’s not created by and used by Google to help determine search results like Google Plus is. Yes, having a Facebook page helps with search results, but Google naturally places a higher importance on their own products. Anyway, Facebook is just now starting to get into the business aspects of social networking. While Google Plus seems to be a marketer’s dream come true.

By getting active now on Google Plus you’ll have a big opportunity to become a major influencer and force within the Google+ community. You’ll discover that unlike Facebook, you can actually communicate better with customers as your brand. Facebook actually makes it rather difficult to have two way interactions with your customers as your brand, putting a lot of limits on your activity as a business. Google Plus encourages interaction as a brand and as an individual.

Getting Started With Google Plus

8-plusIf you use Gmail or any Google products you’re basically already using Google+, but you may not realize it and you may not be using it to its full potential. Sign in to your Gmail account, and look at the black bar above the Google logo, search window, and your name. It has your name in the upper left with the + symbol beside it. Click it. This is your Google + page.

You can now highlight the little house on the left to activate a menu where you can see and edit your profile. You can also click the little down arrow beside your photo if one is showing, (if not, near where your photo will be when you upload one) to bring up a window that allows you to click Account so that you can edit your profile. It’s important that you do edit your profile, filling it out as completely as possible. Also upload a picture of yourself.

You can also add in other email addresses that you want associated with your Google+ account such as your business email address. You can also create links back to your business website, blog and other online real estate that you wish to highlight. Remember, as you create your profile to be aware of keywords, keyword phrases, and to ensure that you are found check your privacy settings. This is also where you will connect any devices, or other products and apps that you use to your Google+ account as well.

Managing and Adding People to Circles

Now that you have your account set up the way you want it, with a profile picture, cover page, and your profile filled out as completely as possible, be sure to verify all the email addresses you want associated with the account. Click Home. This is where your stream of content will live as well as where you can add people to your circles and share updates with your circles or the public.

Participating Effectively

10-participateIt will take time for you to build up your circles but a really important part of building your reputation in any type of social media is to participate effectively. You want to create targeted content that is unique and not the same thing you’re putting everywhere else. Take advantage of the different products that Google offers, such as Google Hangouts and Google Communities.

Don’t just clone what you put on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.com to Google+. Be different and engaging. Keep in mind your circles and how you have segmented them. You don’t want to share all your content with everyone; pick and choose with whom to share information and knowledge based on whether or not you feel they would be interested.

Managing your circles and participating is a good way to get started. You don’t want to put off participating until you have a huge audience, you want to get in the habit of participating now, while your circles are small. Spend some time each day building your audience.

Major Benefits of Google+

Before we talk about the benefits of understand that Google Plus is unlike any other destination on the web. Understanding the benefits and how you can use it will be key in realizing how you can leverage Google+ to increase traffic to your site and connections for your business.

It’s not going to act like other social networks that you’re accustomed to, and you really don’t want it to, because it’s so much better. Google Plus is truly a game changer. It is, as Google likes to say: A Social Destination. For a business owner, being part of Google Plus is an imperative.

Some of the major benefits of Google+ are:

You Can Organize Your Connections

3-circlesUsing Google Plus Circles you can organize your customers (and any audience) easily by simply creating what is called a “circle” which is simply a way to segment contacts based on their relationship to you. Their relationship to you could be that they’re a customer of yours, or that they are a colleague, or even a family member.

You can have a circle of “all customers” and then segment them into smaller circles based on what they’ve bought. For instance, you may have customers who have bought product A from you and some customers who have purchased service B. You can put them into a circle specifically for them. When you share a post on Google Plus you can choose to share it with one or more circles or the general public.

By creating circles, which is really just another way of segmenting, you can choose what you will share with whom easily.

You Can Improve Your Search Engine Results

4-search-engineGoogle Search adds weight to its Author Rank and authorship tag in search results. The +1 feature is a great way to give more social proof for your content’s popularity. Adding the Google + One Button to your content will increase SEO dramatically. Creating a Google+ Brand Page and personal profiles is another essential element to increasing your search engine page results (SEPR). Google+ is also a great way to get high quality backlinks to your content.

Not only that, Google+, since it is so good at connecting and identifying people, can let you know what your friends like all across the web. Just like you can see what pages your friends like on Facebook, you can now find out what websites, articles, and other content your friends (social circles) like all across the entire Internet.

This enables Google Search to return search results not just based on the search terms you use, and the location you reside, but also on what pages your social circles are recommending via Google Search Plus Your World. These very personal results for search terms and phrases are given to searchers signed into their Google+ accounts, which remember, every person with a Gmail account now automatically have a Google+ account, and if they’re signed into their email, they’re signed into Google+.

Google+ Status Updates are Indexed Immediately

You can help this process by including important keywords within your status update, as well as optimizing them with awesome headlines to create even better and more targeted search results. The people in your circles will be a lot more likely to see your status updates on Google+ too, over Facebook. At least right now Google+ is not requiring funds to “boost” your posts to people who have chosen to follow you. They will see your updates if they are looking.

Understanding Google+ Integration with the Rest of Google

The fact is, Google has done a great job integrating the rest of its products with Google+ the Social Network. You may or may not be familiar with the range of Google products. Many are listed below.

6-integrationThese Google products work together to create a very powerful interconnected way to do just about anything you want to do on the Internet. Understanding this interconnectedness is important if you want to use Google to get more business. Opportunities for business are truly unlimited when you understand how your activities and the activities of your target audience affect your impact and your search engine page rank.

The best way to explain how everything is related is to consider Google Email apart from Google+ for a moment. You automatically have a Google+ account when you get a Gmail account. So, any of your customers or potential customers who have a Gmail account are already connected to Google+ even if they don’t know it. Let’s say you have 200 customers who have Gmail accounts and only 40 of them are active on Google+.

One of the 40 reads a blog post you wrote about something they are interested in, and they use your +1 button. You will know that they +1’d your blog post, and now when they search for anything on the Internet Google Search recognizes that they already +1’d some of your content so Google will be more likely to return more of your content to the searcher.

But, that’s not all. Anyone that your customer who +1’d your content is connected to either via Gmail, or via Google+ as an active user will also be more likely to receive a search result with your content that your customer +1’d. Did you understand that? With just one person using the +1 button on your site, they’ve made it more likely for you to show up in SERPS to not only themselves, but to their friends, customers, contacts, whether or not they’re in their circles. Pretty awesome and powerful, isn’t it? Now, times that by 40. Excited yet?
